About

Sergei Zinchuk (b. Ukraine, 1978) is a London/Portugal based queer artist working across sculpture, installation, text and moving image. He reconstitutes residues of upkeep—dust, ash, paint flakes, textile scraps—into a paper-like fibre, weaving fragile spatial structures that register memory, repair and the material aftermath of a place. He holds an MA from the Royal College of Art (2021) and a BA from Central Saint Martins. Recent highlights include the Weave UP Textile Biennial Residency (Guimarães/Porto, 2023–24), the Art for Change Finalist Exhibition (Saatchi Berlin, 2023), the Bilbao Print Biennial (2023), the London Grads show at Saatchi Gallery (2021–22), and the Liu Shiming Artist Grant (2024). From 2021–25 he lived in rural Portugal, renovating a modernist villa in exchange for studio space, where this body of work developed.
